Periodontal disease is caused when the gum line recedes, causing the tooth to become exposed and at risk for decay and tooth loss. While there are numerous treatments that can help control periodontal disease, New York City dentist, Dr. Jason Kasarsky, uses advanced regeneration techniques to help reverse gum disease. Bone grafting or tissue grafting can be used to replace lost bone and tissue, and promote gum healing. Bone grafts are often used to help strengthen the jawline, while a gum tissue graft can treat receding gums and restore an even gum line. During this procedure, Dr. Kasarsky carefully folds back the gum tissue and uses special instruments to gently remove bacteria. In addition to bone grafting and tissue grafting, certain proteins can be used to help encourage and stimulate the body's natural ability to regenerate tissue and bone. Periodontal regenerative surgery is a special technique that can be discussed during a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Kasarsky.
"Dr. Kasarsky and his team make me smile! My smile is my signature, and I wouldn't trust it to anyone else!"- DH / Office Visit / Feb 13, 2018
"It has been over 25 years since I last saw Dr. Kasarsky and wanted to reach out and say thank you for what you did for me so many years ago. My current dentist in NJ recently commented that the work Jason did was “ahead of his time and lasted 3 times longer than any veneer work he has ever seen” (seals are perfect). I fondly remember Jason and his great office staff. I was in poor dental shape before I saw Jason and he got me in shape just in time for my wedding - now over 25 years ago. Thank you always!"- B.K. / Google / Dec 05, 2019

Why Tissue Grafting?
- To treat periodontal (gum) disease
- To contour and reshape uneven gum tissue
- To correct receding gums or gums that are too high
- To treat bone loss
- To stabilize dental implants due to gum loss
Dr. Kasarsky will use local anesthesia to numb the area being treated. In addition, other sedation options are available to help our patient with any discomfort and to ease anxiety. To start periodontal regeneration treatment, the gum tissue will be folded back so that the areas needing the graft can be visible. The area will be cleaned thoroughly, ensuring there is no bacteria. The graft will then be placed in the correct location and carefully sutured back together. Dr. Kasarsky will treat the area with medication and certain enhancement building proteins to help promote healing and regeneration. Most patients will return in about 7-10 days to have their sutures removed and so that Dr. Kasarsky can check to see how the gums are progressing.
After periodontal regenerative surgery, patients will be sore and will need to take it easy for a day. Patients will adhere to a soft foods, liquid diet while the surgical site heals. Pain medication and anti inflammatory medication will be prescribed as needed. Before leaving our office the day of surgery, patients will schedule their follow up visit with Dr. Kasarsky. Gentle brushing and flossing should continue daily, and regular dental exams and cleanings are important and should be scheduled routinely.
