What are porcelain veneers?

Dental veneers are one of the easiest ways to makeover the smile. Manhattan cosmetic and implant dentist Dr. Jason Kasarsky uses wafer-thin, porcelain veneers to create an entirely new smile or to perfect a few problematic teeth. Veneers can be used to fix chips, cracks, misalignment, or improperly spaced teeth. This process will leave patients with a lasting, beautiful, and even smile. Patients who want a smile that matches their aesthetic goals can schedule a consultation with Dr. Kasarsky to learn more about dental veneers and which options can give them their best smile.

What are the benefits of porcelain veneers?

Individuals don't have to deal with a smile that is chipped, cracked, or lost. Porcelain veneers are a wonderful option for New York, NY individuals who hope to obtain many perks, such as:

  • Prevention of darkening or staining
  • Minimal enamel removal required for installation
  • Little upkeep needed besides regular oral health habits
  • Improved dental function and look that will last for many years

Am I A Candidate For Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers may be used to quickly and effectively mask stains, cracks, and chips in your teeth, improve worn down or misaligned teeth, and fix teeth that are unevenly spaced or shaped. At Jason Kasarsky DDS, your cosmetic veneers will be custom-created to fit comfortably over your teeth for an attractive and natural look. In your consultation, Dr. Kasarsky will listen to your objectives and expectations so he can customize your procedure. Dr. Kasarsky may also determine if you're a good candidate for porcelain veneers by analyzing your overall oral health. Candidates should not have signs of periodontal disease or routinely grind their teeth and clench their jaw.

how are veneers applied?

Prior to the procedure, the dentist will conduct a comprehensive exam in order to gain a full understanding of the patient’s dental needs and aesthetic goals. As part of this examination, photos, measurements, and impressions of the teeth will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory. In the lab, wax molds are created for the teeth, which will be fitted to the patient so any changes can be made at their second visit. During the third visit, the patient’s teeth will be prepared for the veneers by removing a thin layer of the enamel, and the custom veneers will be placed and bonded to the teeth. This process thoroughly helps to ensure that the patient truly likes the look and feel of the veneers to provide optimal satisfaction.

What Should I Expect after Getting Porcelain Veneers?

Once you've developed your personalized treatment plan with Dr. Kasarsky, he will take digital or physical impressions of your teeth. Your porcelain veneers might be made in our office while you wait, or the impressions could be sent to a dental laboratory where your custom veneers will be crafted out of high-quality porcelain material. As soon as your porcelain veneers are ready, Dr. Kasarsky will carefully remove some enamel from the front of your teeth. This allows space for the veneers and enhances the bond for a more natural outcome that lasts a long time. When your porcelain veneers are bonded, Dr. Kasarsky will make minor adjustments so that they are comfortable.

How much do veneers cost?

On average, the cost of dental veneers is $1,500 – $1,900 per tooth. This cost varies, depending on the number of teeth to be treated. Dental veneers are usually a cosmetic procedure that is not covered by dental insurance, but our office will confirm the patient’s coverage before their treatment.

Veneers FAQs

Do Veneers Stain?

Porcelain veneers are resistant to stains; however, the veneers are partially transparent so if the natural teeth are stained, this could result in a blotchy, discolored smile. Veneers will also stain if the patient does not brush their teeth regularly.

Are veneers Covered By Insurance?

Since dental veneers are considered cosmetic and not restorative or preventive service, most patients will not be covered by their dental insurance. Our office works with patients to provide payment plans and options to fit their needs and budget.

How do i care for my veneers?

Much like the natural teeth, it is important to maintain a regular dental hygiene regimen to keep porcelain veneers looking beautiful. Although there are no special care instructions for veneers, patients are encouraged to schedule routine dental exams and cleanings in addition to brushing, flossing, and maintaining a healthy diet.
