Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that applies a tooth-colored, durable resin to the existing teeth and then the resin is bonded to the teeth with a special light to improve the appearance of the smile. Once the dental bonding has hardened, Manhattan cosmetic dentist, Dr. Jason Kasarsky, can shape and file the resin to look like perfect, natural teeth. For those needing minor tooth repairs, such as lengthening the tooth shape, closing gaps in the teeth, and filling in cracks and chips, dental bonding by Dr. Kasarsky can easily transform average-looking teeth into a dazzling smile.

"Extraordinary expertise and state of the art tools, combined with warmth and kindness from all the staff, have well exceeded all my expectations. Dr. Kasarsky immediately built trust by showing me what he saw via a small camera, patiently explaining my options and addressing my concerns. His hygienist Marissa has set the bar for the most effective cleaning I have ever had - and the most gentle. The entire staff takes patient care to a whole new level. I can't imagine going elsewhere."- C.J. / Healthgrades / Dec 12, 2016
"I will start by saying I am very nervous when I go to the dentist. Having said that, I have been going to Dr. Kasarsky for 11 years. I think if it wasn't for Jason and his high level of care I would not go as much as I do.Yesterday I had my front tooth worked on. A slight cap. He did an amazing job. I really don't know what to say. I don't review. The precision and level of perfection is something that you rarely see these days. As a perfectionist myself it is something that I strive for everyday- but rarely see. Unbelievable. It matched so well my wife couldn't tell which side was complete and worked on.I trust him so much that since moving to NJ from the East Village, I still travel 1 hour to see him and his trusted team."- D.G. / Google / Aug 08, 2016
Dental bonding does not require local anesthetic or sedation, but some patients may want it for increased comfort during the procedure. During the bonding process, we will use a shade guide to select a composite resin that closely matches the color of the patient’s tooth. To prepare the teeth and help the resin bond to the natural teeth, we will texturize the surface and apply a conditioning liquid. Then, the tooth-colored, putty-like resin material is applied, molded, and smoothed to the desired shape on the tooth. Using a special light, the resin is set and the tooth is polished for a nice, natural finish. Typically, dental bonding only taking 30 - 60 minutes and it can be completed in one visit with no recovery time needed.
Estimate of Cost
The total cost of dental bonding will depend on how many teeth are being treated, but most patients spend $200 - $1,000 for the total procedure cost. Dental bonding is almost always a cosmetic procedure, so most dental insurance companies do not cover it, but our front office is happy to call and check for our patients.
How Long Does Bonding Last?
With good oral hygiene, the effects of dental bonding can last up 7 - 10 years. It is important for patients to maintain a good regimen of brushing, flossing, and regular visits to the dentist to maintain the quality of the bond.
Special Care for Bonded Teeth?
Bonded teeth should be treated just like regular teeth, which means good oral hygiene. However, because the bonded material is susceptible to chipping, patients will damage the resin faster if they continue habits such as biting fingernails and chewing on hard food or objects.
Benefits of Bonding?
Dental bonding is an effective and noninvasive procedure that can be used to fix a number of cosmetic tooth concerns. This treatment also helps to keep the teeth strong and healthy by strengthening the enamel. For patients who do not qualify or do not wish to undergo oral surgery, dental bonding can be a great choice for minor dental problems.
